When I was paid hourly driving I would clean mine and shine the inside make sure all reflective tape looked good. Do extensive pre trips. Now I’m mileage pay so no more of that. Not even gonna clean anything

I fully agree, my boss makes us appreciate every little bit of machinery we have. Whether it be a 40 ton excavator or a tri axle dump truck. From Washing done daily, polishing, tire shine to organization. It all applies to how we treat every site we work on because that’s the mentality of the company. Housekeeping & cleanliness are his priority yet we work in excavation & hauling.

As a diesel mechanic for concrete mixer trucks, we give extra bonuses to drivers that keep their trucks in perfect condition though we still have plenty that refuse to keep them clean. But for those that go above and keep them clean it makes my job as their tech to be able to fix what’s broken or needs replaced without having to chip concrete bits off just to simple services or parts changing.

Did anybody notice that this was an ad? There's always one driver, maybe, that goes out of his way to polish, but this is not a driver, this is a polisher, this is what he does for anyone that hires him. Once our twice a year this is possibly a thing to have done. Is this just a bunch of steering wheel holders that are commenting? It's a work truck, you don't need to waste your time constantly polishing. Once or twice a year. Get back to work and quit wasting money! And learn how to drive!

This is beyond wrong. The diver did not do it because of the company. He did it for himself. As a blue collar we spend more time inside of out equipment than with our families, on top of that even if its not recognized we have to take pride in the work that we do. This is the true reason he cleans it.
