But if you hope to just open some chart and memorize all the variety of endings to every word, you’ll feel overwhelmed - at best, at worst, you’ll probably lose your motivation to learn Russian. I wouldn’t advice you to do that! What I would recommend to you at this point, is: 👆 When you hear Russian speech, just listen out for the words that sound familiar, and keep in mind their meaning, don’t attempt to memorize all the variety of endings, for now. That’s it! I can’t emphasize enough how important this skill is! _ 0:00 - Intro 3:46 - Phrases with the Verb 'слУшать' (to Listen) 7:15 - Phrases with the Verb 'слЫшать' (to Hear) 8:05 - Phrases with the Verb 'говорИть' (to Talk, Speak / to Say, Tell) _ ✅ After you watch the video, have a quick check! Then close it and try to write it down, in the same order. After you’re done, compare what you’ve written to the correct conjugation. Take a note about your mistakes and try again. When you see that you can easily write that conjugation, move on to the next verb. Once you see that you’re pretty confident with conjugating the new verb, write down both of them by memory, and so on. ❗️ It's just a mechanical thing, but it WORKS GREAT! Pay special attention to the stress, that sometimes jumps from one part of a verb to another. Also, try to not confuse the verbs слУшать (= to listen) и слЫшать (= to hear), which is a common mistake for R learners, who may say ‘слЫшаю’ instead of ‘слЫшу’, or ‘слУшу’ instead of ‘слУшаю’. It’s important to not force yourself to memorize conjugation to stay motivated. It’s important to read the conjugation thoughtfully because it keeps you focused. It’s important to write it down on paper with your own hand, and not just type it, because with that, you’re also activating your motor memory. And when you’re making mistakes that you didn’t expect, you’re actually also helping yourself, because at that moment, you’re engaging your emotions in the process, and they let you remember things even better. That shouldn't avert you. Take it as a different code system, just like when learning music or coding. Some letters may look familiar to you, and others may not. So, in order to not get confused, I’d advice you to try to not compare the Cyrillic alphabet to the Latin alphabet, just try to switch your thinking to learning something completely new. The Russian alphabet has 33 letters, 10 of them are vowels. From the video, you'll learn how to pronounce each letter correctly. There are two letters that don't have any sound, the Hard sign (Ъ) and the Soft sign (Ь). They used to be vowels around a hundred years ago, today they have a function close to an apostrophe in other languages, so they both can follow only a consonant. Only the Soft sign (Ь) also makes consonants soft (more details on that here: 🤍 * Some letters are repeated twice 0:00 - Intro 0:41 - Ъ and Ь 1:15 - Alphabet А to З 1:31 - И and Й 2:03 - К to Я 3:05 - an advice on How you can remember the Russian Alphabet better: Read the first three letters, А-Б-В, then the next three, Г-Д-Е. Take as much time as you need to remember them. Then repeat the whole line, А-Б-В-Г-Д-Е. Then move on the same way to the second line, ЁЖЗ-ИЙК. And afterwords, repeat the both lines together. The main idea behind that is, that you remember a small patch at a time, then learn another small patch. Then you repeat them together. Then you add another small piece, and after that repeat the three pieces together, and so on. It's generally a great way to learn anything. Continue doing the same with the rest of the letters, don't rush yourself, and you’ll become much more familiar with the alphabet. _ 📖 Proverbs used in this video: * Я - последняя буква в алфавите ("Я" is the last letter in the alphabet, meaning "Don't be so selfish talking just about yourself") * Повторение - мать учения (literally: Repetition is the mother of learning, meaning "The more you repeat, the better you remember") _ Here, you'll Learn Russian with ease and no time wasted 👍 👆 This video is a part of a Guided Plan for Learning Russian: 🤍 _ Russian Alphabet picture used: 🤍 Music: 🤍 Special Thanks to my Russian Students Special Thanks to 🤍 🤍 _ © All Rights Reserved #RussianComprehensive #russianalphabet #abecedarioruso #learnrussianalphabet learn russian, russian alphabet, learn russian alphabet, russian, russian language, russian alphabet pronunciation, russian abc, cyrillic, cyrillic alphabet, russian letters, basic russian, how to read in russian, how to learn russian, aprender ruso, lingua russa, apprendre le russe, russian letters and sounds, studiare russo, idioma ruso, alfabeto ruso, alphabet russe, alfabeto russo, russo base

Learn How to Read Russian Consonants (Hard vs Soft, or Plain vs Palatalized) Some of them are always hard or always soft. What does it mean? Palatalization describes the process when the center of your tongue is raised and touching the roof of your mouth when you're pronouncing the so-called Russian Soft consonants. I also gave some examples of hard and soft consonants. This idea doesn’t exist in English, or in most European languages. The closest example from another language would be the Spanish consonants N and Ñ. The Spanish N kind of resembles the hard Н in Russian, while Ñ resembles the Russian soft Нь. In this video, we'll try to apply this idea to other Russian consonants. Whether a consonant is hard or soft, depends on what letter goes after it (you'll see examples in the video). 👆 If you can barely hear the difference between hard and soft consonants in Russian, don’t be too hard on yourself, keep in mind that it’s a new idea for a foreigner, and one has to get used to it. And here’s the catch: it means both ‘to Learn’ AND ‘to Teach’! 🤯 So, how do you know its meaning in a particular phrase? You'll know it from the context! Учить + someTHING (like a school or college subject) = to learn (Я учУ рУсский язЫк) Учить + someONE (a living being) = to teach You'll learn more examples from the video! ❗️I had hard times finding an appropriate / better English word for an "animate object" (a living being), and in the video, I'm calling it "an object"; please, read it as "a living being". ⬇️ Я учУсь игрАть на гитАре = I'm learning to play the guitar Я учУ игрАть на гитАре = I'm teaching to play the guitar The verb ‘Изучать’ also means studying something, but at a deeper level, professionally, exploring a subject: Изучать + smth = to study smth at a deep level, professionally (Я изучАю кибернЕтику) 'Учиться' and 'Заниматься' are both reflexive verbs. You might think that you'll have troubles conjugating them, but rest assured, the things are easier than they seem. The main difference between these two verbs can be described as following: 'Учиться' = to acquire new skills 'Заниматься' = to practice the existing skills Учиться + infinitive = to learn how to do smth (Я учУсь игрАть на гитАре) Учиться = to study (Я учУсь в университЕте) ЗанимАться = to be doing smth / to practice some skill (Я занимАюсь рУсским) Learn more phrases from the video and give me some examples of your own phrases in the Comments below! 0:00 - Intro 0:28 - УЧИТЬ meaning 0:55 - Examples for учИть + someTHING 1:31 - Examples for учИть + someONE 3:42 - УЧИТЬСЯ meaning 4:30 - Conjugation of УЧИТЬ & УЧИТЬСЯ 5:12 - Examples for УЧИТЬСЯ + to Do smth 5:56 - Examples for УЧИТЬСЯ = to Study 7:15 - Summary for УЧИТЬ vs УЧИТЬСЯ 7:49 - What are Reflexive Verbs? 8:43 - How do you say "I teach English/etc."? 9:30 - ИЗУЧАТЬ meaning 10:06 - Examples for ИЗУЧАТЬ 10:34 - Can you say "Я изучаю русский язык" instead of "Я учу русский язык"? 11:10 - ЗАНИМАТЬСЯ meaning 12:04 - Review and meanings of "Чем ты занимаешься?" 12:51 - Conjugation of ЗАНИМАТЬСЯ 13:23 - Examples for ЗАНИМАТЬСЯ 14:34 - The Lesson's Summary _ 👆 This video is a part of a Guided Plan for Learning Russian: youtube.com/playlist?list=PLpgpVaWoAiTEF8aNQvPnFCLBrtIeF3tqa With clear directions and explanations, Russian won't seem that tricky. 🤓 Fun tips on Learning the Russian Alphabet (Learn How to Pronounce Russian Letters Ы, Р, Й). From this video, you'll get some insights about how to pronounce the mysterious Russian Ы. I bet you’ll get some laughs out of it, and I hope, you’ll learn something new that you can benefit from. Ы and И are very similar in pronunciation, the difference is that with И, your throat is narrow, and with Ы, it's open wider, just the same as when you're yawning. The sound Э is pronounced with a wider throat, too. Another tricky Russian sound is the sound P. The bottom line is, that when you pronounce Л and P, your tongue gets pretty much in the same position (the tip of your tongue touches the top gum ridge), only with P it vibrates. For many Russian kids, it’s difficult to pronounce P as well, and they'd say Л instead. So you just have to develop the appropriate muscle, the same as you do at a gym. Keep challenging yourself trying to say Pppppp as often as you can, and I promise, you will learn it. You just have to work the muscle, that you haven’t been using. Й (the Short I) has the sound that resembles the Spanish sound [ll], like in the words Llamar, or Lleno. It can be also compared to the sound in the beginning of the word Yoga. Only keep in mind, that it's a consonant, not a vowel, it means, you "stumble" on it, you can't make it long or "sing" it. 0:00 - Intro 0:07 - Ы (a deep sound coming at least from your chest, and your lips should be in a position of a smile) 1:03 - How yawning will help you pronounce Ы 1:42 - How cows will help you pronounce Ы 1:58 - Р (your tongue touches the top gum ridge, vibrates) 2:40 - Й The difference between И and Й is explained here: 🤍 (1:31) 3:00 - Д, Т, Л, Н (the tip of your tongue should touch your upper teeth) _ Earn $10 free ITALKI credit: 🤍 ✅ You can contact me and SCHEDULE a LESSON via email: RussianComprehensive (at) yandex.ru or here: 🤍 Find RUSSIAN COMPREHENSIVE here: ✅ Subscribe on YouTube: youtube.com/c/RussianComprehensiveDotCom?sub_confirmation=1 Facebook: 🤍 Instagram: 🤍 VK: 🤍 _ Here, you'll Learn Russian with ease and no time wasted 👍 👆 This video is a part of a guided plan for learning Russian: 🤍 👉 Russian Alphabet Explained: 🤍 👉 Russian Letters Ж, З, Х, Ц, Ч, Ш, Щ: 🤍 👉 Russian Letters Ъ and Ь (Hard sign and Soft sign): 🤍 👉 Learn How to READ in Russian Once And For All: 🤍 👉 Learn How to WRITE in Russian: 🤍 👉 Start SPEAKING Russian! 🗣 🤍 _ Music: 🤍 Special Thanks to my Russian Students Special Thanks to 🤍 🤍 _ © All Rights Reserved #RussianComprehensive #abecedarioruso #russianalphabet #learnrussian #russian #learnrussianalphabet #russianabc #howtolearnrussian #howtolearnrussianalphabet #ы #russianletters #aprenderuso #ruso #linguarusa #russo #russe #russianlanguage

The bottom line is, they both serve as an apostrophe in Russian, only Ь indicates that the consonant is SOFT, and Ъ indicates that the consonant is HARD. They can be used: Ъ - between a consonant and vowel; Ь - between a consonant and a vowel / between 2 consonants / at the end of a word after a consonant. _ 👉 NEXT: Russian Pronunciation: Voiced & Voiceless Consonants (Assimilation) 🤍 👉 PREVIOUS: Why Are You Learning Russian? 🌟 7 Common Reasons 🤍 _ Long time ago, in Russian, every word had to end with a vowel. Sometimes it would be a very short sound, and there were two of them: Ъ and Ь. Right, the Hard sign (Ъ) and the Soft sign (Ь) used to be short vowels. Back then, they were called “Ер” and “Ерь”. Over time, those short vowels at the end of words got reduced, though still kept in spelling. On practice, the Hard sign (Ъ) indicated that the preceding consonant was hard, and the Soft sign (Ь) indicated that the preceding consonant was soft. In the early 20th century, Ъ at the end of words or between two consonants was deemed excessive and was soon abolished. Today, both the Hard sign (Ъ) and the Soft sign (Ь) are used to separate a consonant and a vowel (mostly Я, Ё, Е, Ю), only the Hard sign (Ъ) separates a Hard consonant and a vowel, and the Soft sign (Ь) separates a Soft consonant and a vowel. Though in fluent speech, syllables with Ъ and Ь (i.e. МЬЯ vs МЪЯ) do sound pretty similar. In some other languages, a similar function is given to an apostrophe. Ь has a much wider usage than Ъ in Russian; Ь can be used at the end of words or in between two consonants, and it indicates that the preceding consonant is soft. Neither Ъ nor Ь can be a stand alone letter or the first letter in a word. At the same time, there are some letters in Russian that are always hard or always soft, and will sound the same way, whether there is the Soft sign (Ь), or not. 0:00 - Intro 0:28 - What do the Hard Sign (Ъ) and the Soft Sign (Ь) sound like in Russian? 1:03 - The function of Ъ and Ь 6:45 - Using Ъ and Ь today vs in the past 7:37 - Ъ in memes / online comments 7:50 - Ь in the middle / at the end of a word 9:24 - Ь after Ж, Ш, Ц 10:11 - Ь after Ч, Щ 11:11 - Ь in "-ться" _ 👆 This video is a part of a guided plan for learning Russian: 🤍 With clear directions and explanations, Russian won't seem that tricky. Learn How to Read in Russian (Beginner Russian Pronunciation Practice) Do you have troubles with reading in Russian? This exercise will help you a lot and will take only 10 minutes of your time. I encourage you to practice it on your own whenever you have some free time. 👆 First, follow the video and repeat the syllables after me. After you're done, go back, mute the sound, and try to read the syllables on your own. In Russian, consonants can be plain ("Hard") and palatalized ("Soft"). This concept doesn't really exist in other popular languages, such as English or Spanish. And the best way to adopt it, is to listen and repeat different types of syllables several times. If you’re still not sure about how well you’re pronouncing some of the letters, it’s absolutely not a deal breaker, there’s no need to get stuck on the alphabet! With this exercise, you’ll actually learn Russian letters and sounds even better. In this video, I’m reading Russian syllables in pairs, with hard and soft consonants, and you can repeat after me. If you are not sure, what hard and soft consonants mean, and why it’s better to learn Russian vowels in pairs, I strongly recommend you watch my two previous videos (links below). Soft Дь, Ть, Ль, Рь are probably the hardest consonants for a foreigner to pronounce, but again, you’ll learn them! Sooner or a little later, when you start reading texts, so there’s no need to spend too much time trying to perfect them, or even more, getting upset if you can’t make them sound right just yet. You’ll get there, you just need some time for that. And practice! When reading the syllables, remember that Russian vowels sound pretty defined, so don’t forget to open your mouth a little wider than you may be used to in your native language. If it’s hard for you to pronounce these syllables now, just keep trying, and I promise, you will get to the point where it seems easy, sooner than you think! 0:00 - Intro 1:02 - Reading Exercise 7:06 - Ж, Ш, Ц - the consonants that are always hard 7:53 - Ч, Щ - the consonants that are always soft 8:33 - Syllables with several consonants in a row You also want to practice reading syllables with several consonants in a row, like these: вра - пра - дра - кра - нра - стра - здра 👆 If you can barely hear the difference between hard and soft consonants in Russian, don’t be too hard on yourself, keep in mind that it’s a new idea for a foreigner, and one has to get used to it. It was known as the Great Patriotic War in the Soviet Union and some of its successor states, while everywhere else it was called the Eastern Front. The battles on the Eastern Front of the Second World War constituted the largest military confrontation in history. They were characterised by unprecedented ferocity and brutality, wholesale destruction, mass deportations, and immense loss of life due to combat, starvation, exposure, disease, and massacres. Of the estimated 70–85 million deaths attributed to World War II, around 30 million occurred on the Eastern Front, including 9 million children. The Eastern Front was decisive in determining the outcome in the European theatre of operations in World War II, eventually serving as the main reason for the defeat of Nazi Germany and the Axis nations. The two principal belligerent powers were Germany and the Soviet Union, along with their respective allies. Though never sending in ground troops to the Eastern Front, the United States and the United Kingdom both provided substantial material aid to the Soviet Union in the form of the Lend-Lease program along with naval and air support. The joint German–Finnish operations across the northernmost Finnish–Soviet border and in the Murmansk region are considered part of the Eastern Front. In addition, the Soviet–Finnish Continuation War is generally also considered the northern flank of the Eastern Front.
