Black Francis verfolgte unter dem Namen Frank Black – ähnlich wie Bassistin Kim Deal – nach den Pixies allerdings eine recht erfolgreiche Solokarriere. Nachdem Regisseur David Fincher den Pixies-Klassiker "Where Is My Mind?" in seinem Film "Fight Club" verwendet hatte, avancierten die Pixies auch im Mainstream zur Kultband. 2003 schloss sich die Band wieder zusammen und tourte um die Welt. Seitdem sind auch neue Alben entstanden – seit 2014 mit Paz Lenchantin am Bass. Die aktuelle Platte "Beneath the Eyrie" (2019) ist das mittlerweile dritte Studioalbum der Pixies seit ihrer Wiedervereinigung. Auch wenn Bild und Ton in ihrer Ungeschliffenheit nicht den heutigen Qualitätsstandards entsprechen, so handelt es sich hierbei um sehenswerte historische Musikdokumente. Das gilt auch für die Kraftwerk-Aufnahmen, die wir diesmal zeigen. Kraftwerk mittlerweile auch die höchste Auszeichnung für herausragende musikalische Leistungen erhalten, die in den USA verliehen wird: den Grammy für ihr Lebenswerk.
