If you want to drive quality traffic with Facebook ads, do this instead... Create a custom event that fires when something happens that signifies a quality website visit. Then use it to measure your results. You may be surprised by what you see. When optimizing for a link click or landing page view when driving traffic to a blog post with Facebook ads, you will get a good CTR. You will get a low CPC. But the quality of those clicks is likely to be garbage. How do you know? That Quality Visitor custom event. In my test, a Quality Visitor was someone who spent two minutes on a page and scrolled at least 70%. It cost over $50 to get a quality visitor by optimizing for link clicks and over $13 when optimizing for landing page views. But when optimizing for that Quality Visitor custom event, it costs me around $1. It may result in fewer clicks and a higher CPC, but the clicks are much more likely to be quality. Quality visitors are much more likely to do quality things that you want them to do down the funnel.
Welcome back to the Visitor Analytics course about SEO and analytics. We are on the web analytics module and we will now talk about the most important metrics and stats to follow in your dashboard. If you're a beginner, then you might not know exactly what some of these metrics mean, so let's go through them one by one. First thing you will see in the app there are three metrics next to each other: visitors, unique visitors and page visits. In other apps, they are called page views. They all show the level of website traffic, so what's the difference between them? This is a common issue and not just with beginners. The first stat you tend to look at is the number of visitors who access your site in one day. I can go too, I have select today as a reference. This counts the number of times people accessed your website and had some activity on it in a day. 225 in my example. But one person can visit the site several times a day. This is why we also need unique visitors. This metric takes the IP address into account or in our case, the fingerprint left by the first visit. Therefore, if one person visits the site four times a day, we will kind of count for visitors or sessions but only one unique visitor. Then, there are the visits, the page visits tab. During a session on your website, one unique visitor may access more than one page on the site. Every time a page is loaded, it is counted as a visit or a page view. When the user refreshes the page, it is also considered a page view. So, you could have one unique visitor, four visitors and let's say twenty-three visits all from the same person. The page visits number, in fact, should always be the highest and unique visitors should always be the lowest among the three. For all of these, in Visitor Analitycs, you can choose a time frame: today, past week, past month or a custom period of time, actually. Every time you select this timeframe, you will also get a comparison with the previous time frame. If the tile is red you have fewer visitors than before if it's green. You have more
In this video we're checking out GA4 session and pageview data for the Root and Branch property and comparing it to the UA data. As you'll see, pageview data is almost identical in GA4 vs. UA. Session data on the other hand is much higher in GA4 as compared to UA. We'll investigate what we can learn from Google's documentation on the subject (🤍 and also my own theories for what is happening. Finally, we'll review how we can adjust the session timeout period in GA4 (which I'm hoping will help to address the current session count "issue" we're seeing in the Root and Branch GA4 property). Have questions or comments? Leave them in the comments. I'm always up for learning more...and for new video ideas. Join Tyler in this episode of Ezoic Explains as he clarifies the difference between pageviews, users, and session. While these terms all mean different things, they can bleed together as one may rely on or relate to the other. User/New User/Return User - Used inside of Google Analytics. The same as a visitor. A new user is when someone visits tour site for the first time. A return user is when a visitor comes to your site any time after their initial visit. Session - A single visit; when a user visits your site, their visit is called 'a session.' The next time a user visits, it would be their second session. If your sessions are higher than the amount of users that have visited your site, that means some of them visited more than once. Pageview - Every page that a user visits during their session. The most granular of these three terms. If your pageviews are more than your users or sessions, it means visitors are going to more than one page on your site. Session Duration - How long a user is on your site in a given session. Bounce Rate - Percentage of users that leave after visiting just one page. These are the core terms for any website owner to understand, especially if they want to use Google Analytics. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Please subscribe to the Ezoic channel, as well as the Ezoic Explains playlist. Internet Marketing Metrics Chapter 3: Page Views and Average Page Views Per Visit: Your page views is a metric that sites somewhere snuggly between your views and your hits. This basically tells you how many individual pages have been viewed, regardless of who viewed them or how many times. Thus it might also be referred to as impressions. Your page views are important in their own way because they tell you how many times the content on your site is being loaded up. And if you have a lot of CPM ads (pay cost per impression), then that tells you how much you’re going to earn from them. It’s also useful to consider aspects like your unique visits vs page views when you look at factors like conversion rates (below). This is useful because each new page view can be considered a new chance for you to impress your visitors. This metric is closely related to another very useful one: that being the average page views per visit. This is similar to your bounce rate but provides a little more in-depth data that shows you how many different pages your visitor looked around on your site. This is a very useful thing to know because it can tell you whether you are being successful in getting your visitors to not only interact with your site but also to keep reading. If you think of your visitors in terms of leads, then the visitors who read the most pages on your site are the most engaged with your brand and are thus the ‘warmest leads’. The more page views you get from each visitor, the more likely it is that they will eventually buy when they see your product. Another related metric/term that you should keep an eye on is your average cost per page view. This tells you how much you are paying to get each hit on your page. If you aren’t doing any paid marketing, then of course this will likely be a very small number (the only cost being your hosting). But if you are spending money on AdWords and other things, then this is a useful way to look at your expenses. Now this is a metric that won’t be readily available in most dashboards. But the thing to keep in mind is that most of the most valuable metric in internet marketing aren’t; you need to calculate them yourself! To work this one out, all you need to do is take the average spend on your website and then divide it by the number of page views. Don’t forget to include all your other costs too in order to make this data as accurate as possible. How to Increase Your Page Views: How do you increase your page views? Other than by marketing your site to increase visits, the other thing you need to do is to keep your visitors on your page and to keep them reading. Remember how we said that content was the key to SEO and to social media marketing? Well, it’s also the key to engagement. This is why it’s not enough for you to simply create a lot of content – you also need to make sure that your content is top quality and is unique, interesting and generally the sort of thing people actually want to read and stick around for. You can also use plugins and other techniques to try and encourage people to stick around and go deeper down your rabbit hole. For example, WordPress plugins showing ‘related posts’ can be very helpful in this regard because they suggest similar content based on what the visitor is already enjoying. Another useful strategy is to make multi-part articles. This is why you will often see posts split into lots of pages: it increases the page views and thereby increases the impressions for adverts that you are earning from! Note that advertising itself is actually bad for your page views. Why? Because when someone clicks on an advert, they invariably get taken away from your site! Even if the new page opens up in another window or tab, that can still be enough to break the engagement. This is why you shouldn’t put AdSense on a sales page!
