Toyota has announced the GR Sport II, a bold evolution of the Tacoma-sized Hilux, for the European market. Positioned as a top-of-the-line model, the truck features updates including a revised exterior design, wider tracks for improved in-cabin handling, and increased ground clearance. The Hilux GR Sport II is available only as a double cab model. Thanks to the higher suspension, the pickup's ride height has been raised by 20 millimeters, and the front and rear tracks have been widened by 140 mm and 150 mm, respectively. New 17-inch lightweight wheels with all-terrain tires. The redesigned truck should handle a little better off the beaten track, as the approach angle has been increased from his 29 degrees to 30 degrees. The exterior design of the new Toyota Hilux GR Sport II is truly eye-catching, exuding both strength and elegance. With its bold and powerful stance, this beast attracts attention wherever it goes. GR SPORT II takes the Hilux to a new stylish level, delivering dynamic, commanding style from all angles and an unparalleled feel. The front fascia features a striking black honeycomb grille flanked by sophisticated LED headlights that shine in the darkness like beacons of strength. The hood features aggressive lines that hint at the raw power that lies beneath. Moving to the side, you'll find sporty 17-inch black alloy wheels with striking aesthetics, paired with eye-catching red brake calipers that add even more dynamism to this rugged beauty. At the rear, there's a spoiler that makes a strong impression in the rearview mirror and a redesigned tailgate with LED taillights. The interior of the Hilux GR Sport II is finished in all black with red accents all around. The paddle shifters and foot pedals are made of aluminum, and various GR Sport stickers and badges are featured on the dashboard, door pads, instrument panel, and multi-information display. Toyota also offers the Hilux GR Sport II with a new touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Toyota hasn't made any mechanical changes. In other words, the GR Sport II's power comes from the Hilux's standard 2.8-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder engine. Power output is rated at 201 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, driving the rear wheels or all four wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission and a two-speed transfer case. The truck can tow up to 7,700 pounds and transport approximately 2,200 pounds. Finally depicted, the Toyota Hilux for 2024 has the same design language as the newly unveiled Land Cruiser model. The brand-new vehicle will ride on the same cutting-edge body-on-frame architecture known as the TNGA-F, just like the LC300 and third-generation Tundra. The new pickup truck features a touchscreen interface, an instrument cluster, a shift knob, a centre console, and a dashboard that are all quite similar to those seen in the Land Cruiser 300 model. It is expected that the Japanese automobile manufacturer would unveil the new pickup truck at some point throughout the course of the following year, with sales commencing not long after. We now have an excellent look at what improvements the new 2024 Toyota Hilux may have thanks to a new rendering that was just released. To begin, the brand-new pickup truck is built on a cutting-edge body-on-frame platform that is designated by the acronym TNGA-F. Both the Land Cruiser and the Tundra vehicles are built on the same chassis, which is called a platform. In general, the design is fascinating, and the Land Cruiser and the Toyota Hilux have a striking resemblance to one another. It has the same front-end style as the previous model, which includes an appealing grille, eye-catching LED headlights, and eye-catching wheels. The renderings, on the other hand, show an interior with a touchscreen that is quite similar to the one seen in the Land Cruiser, in addition to an instrument cluster, shift knob, centre console, and dashboard. In addition to that, we anticipate seeing dual-zone air conditioning and phone connectivity options such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Toyota has confirmed that the Hilux will get a Diesel Hybrid engine in 2024 based on the 2.8-litre unit with a 10 percent fuel economy improvement. The 48-volt hybrid motor will be standard for the 2024 Hilux SR5 & Hilux Rogue 4x4 double-cab models and optional on the 2024 Hilux SR 4x4 double-cab. Toyota also says that the hybrid tech will enhance on- and off-road performance, so there may well be a small power and torque bump from today’s 150kW (201 hp) and 500Nm outputs. 3500kg towing is maintained. We’ve got Mat in the new Ford Ranger, and he’s going up against Yianni in a Toyota Hilux! So let’s see how they compare. Starting with the new Ford Ranger, it’s powered by a 2-litre twin-turbo diesel, that can produce 205hp and 500Nm of torque. It comes with a switchable AWD system as well as a locking rear differential. It weighs in at around 2,400kg, and it costs from £39,000. Next up it’s the Hilux. This is equipped with a 2.8-litre turbo Diesel engine that can put down 204hp and 420Nm. It also comes with some off-road capabilities, including a locking rear differential. It’s lighter than the Ford, at 2,100kg, but it’s also a bit more expensive, at £44,000. So what do you think - will Yianni win his first off-road battle?
