Thanks to everyone for helping to set up this race: BMW G80 M3 🤍 🤍 🤍 Ferrari SF90 🤍 It's a question with an exciting answer... can a souped-up BMW M3 really challenge a £400k Ferrari SF90? We’ve got Mat lining up in a modified G80 M3 today. It’s powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbo straight-six which, from stock, puts out 510hp and 650Nm of torque. However, this one’s had £8k of mods and is now running 750hp and 900Nm! Will it be able to put that extra power down, though? On paper, it doesn't look like a match for the Ferrari SF90. The Italian stallion is equipped not only with a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, but three electric motors too! Combined, they deliver 1,000hp and 800Nm. Weighing in at 1,580kg (mind, that’s a “dry” weight without fluids) it’s lighter than the BMW too, which tips the scales at 1,780kg. Fortunately for us, drag races don't happen on paper. There’s a 14” and 16” as always, but we’re now getting a $1,599 M3 (non-Pro) 14” MacBook Pro with all the same stuff we love about the higher-end machines: the 120Hz ProMotion XDR display, the best laptop speakers around, fantastic battery life, and more. The M3 Pro and M3 Max bring some impressive performance gains, but not without controversy. TSMC’s 3nm N3B process is so wildly unpredictable that Apple’s yields seem to be pretty strange. There’s a bunch of binned SKUs this year across the whole lineup—and not only do they cut cores, but they even reduce memory bus width (a real shame)! With prices as high as they’ve ever been, M3 better perform spectacularly if it’s going to justify its attempts to cost cut while raising MSRP. Not only did we get new MacBook Pros, we got a new iMac—I think? A USB-C Magic Mouse is still a pipe dream as we get another whole cycle with Lightning. It’s embarrassing. But can the pros outweigh the cons? You won’t see a single difference in exterior or interior design, and not even a single badge — very un-BMW! Almost as if M doesn’t want you to feel a difference. You can’t see any of the unique parts that comprise the XDrive #M3, so in typical RBR style, I’ll strip back the skin and show you what’s up! The result is a BIG difference. This is the first-ever all-wheel-drive version of what is historically BMW M’s most important car. Customers are nervous enough already with the rear-wheel drive car thanks to the abandoning of the dual-clutch, the increased weight and the design choices. This extra if potentially makes things even more difficult for the traditional M customer, or maybe BMW M I pulled a rabbit out of the hat. Let’s find out today! Firstly the RWD new M3 is already the king of its segment, a real #supercar with 5 seats. Yes, the front has a beaver face. We’ve seen car crashes with better design cohesion than this thing - I like the idea but maybe the execution could be less divisive. Regardless of that, it has a massive road presence with just the doors shared with a standard 3 series - we have huge rear arches, 4 series lights, staggered set up with 19/20 wheels for the first time on M3, and two big shotguns on the rear. Not ugly enough? You can get the M Performance Parts exhaust and aero pack. Please don’t. The engine is a powerful 3-litre straight-six twin-turbo engine called the “S58”. It has parts that are 3D printed to reduce weight. Plus a Lightweight crankshaft, Forged pistons, a closed deck construction with a slightly larger bore and shorter stroke. All this allows it to rev higher to 7250 RPM. The XDrive comes with the ZF 8 speed only, in Competition spec! That means 510 BHP, 650 NM of torque and a super quick 0-60 of 3.5 seconds - let’s see if we can beat it with launch control! The difference in 0-60 is more than the previous-gen M3 vs the M5. It’s literally a class or two above! All that is thanks to the XDrive, which is similar to the 340i but, this one uses an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch in the transfer case. To give Fully variable torque delivery between the front and rear. But compared to the 340i, it’s extremely rear-biased: Only on the loss of grip at the rear do the front driveshafts wake up. The reason for this we’ll discuss when driving. It also features a torque control system for faster adjustments and the clutch pack is a beefed-up version with better oil cooling. FYI The front differential is an open differential without an integrated mechanical lock. OF course, you get 3 traction modes including RWD only “drift mode”! As a final touch, It also has its own front suspension and steering tuning and geometry over the rear-drive car, plus the engine’s oil system has also been upgraded. As for weight, the standard M3 sits at 1730, which is heavier than the 1640 previous car (manual almost the same 1670) The M3 xDrive weight is 1780KG, a mere 50kg more. Some of this can be negated by options, like the Carbon roof - 23kg lighter than the sunroof, Lightweight bucket seats save 10kg, and the ceramics at 13kg So not a lot of penalties, for what could be a lot of benefits. 👋 Today I drive and check out the all new 2024 BMW M3 Competition! The 2024 BMW M3 Competition has the M sport automatic transmission and is such a cool performance sedan! I love how the new 2024 BMW M3 has new styling and an aggressive look! The front bumper has the vertical kidney grilles and honestly looks really cool especially with the rest of the contoured lines throughout the rest of the car! The front end is the most aggressive with that design, but it flows nicely to the hood and the rest of the body! The G80 2024 BMW M3 shifts very quick and there are different setting to choose from depending on your driving style! A manual transmission is also available for this family sedan, but you have to get the non-competition model! I love how driver focused this BMW feels and it's super solid! I was able to take the BMW M4 Competition to the mountains and it handled incredibly well, so I would assume this M3 could handle turns and be a blast in the twisties! The power from the turbo engine was super smooth too. I love the exhaust sound on the 2024 BMW M3 Competition and it was beefy! This particular 2024 BMW M3 Competition had a bolt color combo with the grey exterior and red leather interior! Definitely a custom ordered car and unique!! The interior of the 2024 M3 was very nice with leather on many parts and had a performance feel while still being comfortable and roomy. The standard seats are comfortable and there is the option for the carbon buckets which are also great and hands down one of the best, if not the best factory bucket seat available! Both these seats are comfortable and supportive! This also had the all new infotainment system and new shifter design! Both look fantastic for this BMW! The 2024 G80 BMW M3 Competition also had the carbon fiber roof and staggered wheels to give it extra style. The 2024 BMW M3 Competition is also very wide looking with big fender arches and overall its an awesome car! This is a great daily driving sedan if you need the room and want the performance! Thanks to 🤍 for lending us his C63! We’ve got our hands on the all-new Audi RS4 Competition, and it’s going head-to-head against its key rivals - the BMW M3 Touring, and the Mercedes-AMG C63 Estate! Okay, it might be the old C63 Estate, but while we don’t have the latest gen in the UK yet, this is the best we could do! So let’s see how the three compare. Starting with the Audi, it’s powered by a 2.0-litre twin-turbo V7 that can produce 450hp and 600Nm of torque. This power output may be the same as the old car, but it comes with a retuned gearbox that should help it both shift quicker and improve its launch! Power is sent to all four wheels via the gearbox, and it weighs in at 1,745kg. It also rolls up with a price tag of around £85,000. Alongside it we have the BMW. It’s packing a 3-litre twin-turbo straight-six under the bonnet which is good for 510hp and 650Nm. Power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox, and it tips the scales at 1,865kg. It’s a bit more pricey than the Audi, costing around £87,000. Then finally we have the AMG. It’s housing a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 under the bonnet that can produce 510hp and 700Nm. Power is sent to the rear wheels only, and it weighs in at 1,800kg. When new it costs around £78,000, but given it’s the old gen, you can’t even buy one anymore! So will it be a clean sweep for the more powerful BMW? There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE!
