Welcome to our channel! This Log Cabin Project is a dream that we have had for several years that we finally decided to make a reality. Our goal is to build a tiny log cabin from scratch using as much material from our land as possible. We are building it entirely using hand tools (no chainsaw!). This cabin will function fully off-grid and will be only accessible by foot. Subscribe to follow our journey! In this episode, we finally receive our custom foam shapes for our nook. We carry them up to the cabin and get ready to start sewing. But first, we need to repair our snowshoes before a snowstorm rolls in. Once they're fixed, we use them to get some water from our stream. Next, we repurpose an old, broken snow brush into our solar panel cleaner by cutting it in half and taping each end to a long branch. We finally tackle the upholstering of our couch cushions. This ended up taking us a few days since we are sewing amateurs and sewing on the zippers was quite technical. After almost giving up a couple times, we finally finish all 4 foam pieces and can relax in our nook! We end the video by installing some string lights in the nook to make it extra cozy. We are learning a lot as we are doing (as always), so don't hesitate if you have any questions, it will be a pleasure to share tips and tricks, if possible.

Reflecting back on the last 2 years spent building an off grid log cabin alone in the Canadian wilderness. Thanks for watching and Happy New Year! This video is the full version of the 9 minute video on my other channel (Shawn James), which you can watch here: 🤍 They both document just the log cabin exterior build, not the creation of the rest of the wilderness homestead, such as the outhouse, food gardens, greenhouse, etc., which can be viewed weekly or by following along in the Playlists on both channels. We are releasing a new smaller cutting board!! Buy one here: 🤍 We have a Christmas package on the website were you can get 12% off. My girlfriend and I hand-craft these cutting boards ourselves in the log cabin. We can only make a few at a time, so you have to be first to buy one when a batch is released. This batch every cutting board is signed by hand with its own unique number, representing how every cutting board is unique. They are made from hard nordic oak, making them extremely durable, holding up for a lifetime of abuse. Instead of having a plastic cutting board that really should be thrown away after 2 years. I was told that my dream of selling handmade products wouldn’t work in today's world where everything is mass produced. I want to prove them wrong. My goal is to expand into other handmade products. Making a series of lifetime quality handmade goods. Breaking free from mass production, supporting our environment. So check out or website: 🤍 The blacksmith that I made a visit to in the video is Nils! This is his YouTube channel: 🤍 The clothes I am wearing are from the Swedish brand Revolution Race. Welcome to Alaska! You will enjoy this timelapse video of my Alaskan cabin project. It is a compilation taken from 35 separate videos (of the entire build) published on my channel over the past year. You can find all 35 videos on my channel under the "My Alaskan Log Cabin Project" playlist. I am an Alaskan. I have lived in Alaska for over 50 years (mostly in log cabins). At 10 years old I worked with my father building our family's off-grid, log cabin. I have never lost my love for the trade. I have created a set of blueprints for this cabin. They are now available for purchase at 🤍, along with a complete material list. Disclaimer: I am not an architect or engineer. My little helper is my grandson Drox! 3 Years Alone In The Forest Building A Log Cabin

4 years ago I felt lost, even though society had clearly paved the path for me. I was 17 and living in Stockholm Sweden. After seeing the documentary "Alone in the wilderness" by Dick Proenneke, I became completely obsessed with the idea of just packing a rucksack of hand tools and wondering off into the vast forest of Sweden to create my own life, living off the land and build a log cabin. I found my meaning, but I was still in high school. My Grandparents owned forest so I started spending more and more time with them every weekend, wandering out, dreaming of my obsession and asking for advise. I had absolutely no prior knowledge of anything how I was going to do this, just the obsession to learn. When I turned 18 I told everyone of my plans. I received a gopro camera from my parents, so I could at least film some of my adventures. I hadn't even thought about filming anything but I did so and am I glad I did. It is a long story from here of hard work, pain, cold, making many many mistakes and figuring out how to solve problems all alone by trial and error. But I finally built the cabin all alone after 3 years. Along the way I also became passionate in filmmaking, so I invested in a better camera. The whole journey is filmed on a tripod by myself, which was lets just say a struggle (I am insane). Some people will doubt this and say I had a film crew and construction team, which I just take as a big complement. I know my journey and I hope to inspire others the same way Dick Proenneke inspired me. After building the log cabin alone in the forest for over a year, I now embark the next years challenges. Last year I ventured out, found a suitable spot, chopped down and dragged the necessary trees and shaped them into a four wall log cabin. You can see this in my "One Year Alone in Forest of Sweden | Building Log Cabin like our Forefathers" video: 🤍 This year I build the log structure for the roof, lay the complete roof and floor, build an underground root cellar under the log cabin for food storage and prepping and much more. I am now 21 and have built this log cabin from the materials i could find in my own forest in Sweden with only the simple hand tools I could carry in my backpack. Just like our Forefathers did. I had no previous experience in building, gathering materials or even filming. So I started studying the old arts myself and learning from my grandfather and mentor Åke Nilsson. I filmed everything myself using a tripod and edited this video so you can follow my journey and hopefully learn as I do. There is still a lot of work left to actualize my dream. To become self-reliant. For example I want to start a full out garden so I can live out here only reliant on that and the forest. Big goal and a lot of work. So if you are interested in my journey then definitely subscribe to the channel. The clothes I am wearing is from Revolution Race a Swedish brand. Sometimes we hear a call from nature. When I was 18 years old I ventured out alone with only a backpack full of simple hand tools to actualize my dream. Build my own traditional off grid log cabin by hand from the materials of the Swedish wilderness. Just like our Forefathers did. I had no previous experience in building, gathering materials or filming. So I started studying myself the old arts and learning from my grandfather and mentor Åke Nilsson. I began to cut down trees and film with my phone, learning as I go. My project started full time once I graduated high school in summer 2019. I filmed everything myself and edited this video so you can follow my journey and hopefully learn as I do. The tractor is a Ferguson TE20 "Grålle" from 1946, they were wildly used to move timber. In 1950 the first chainsaws came to Sweden but they were too big and heavy to be practical. I didn't want to take down every closest tree. So by using the tractor I could haul a few trees from further away, about 150 meters. I would have loved to use a horse but don't have one. yet.. Please share this video with someone who would enjoy it. Hello friends! This week, I want to share with you what I've been up to in my self-designed living space, completely off the grid and surrounded by nature, with no other humans around. After setting up my wind turbine system, my energy issues were resolved. Now, even on cloudy days, I'm illuminated by wind power, and my tasks progress more efficiently. I'm really pleased with the wind turbine I'm using; harnessing the power of nature is truly an amazing feeling! Inside my wooden cabin, I added a natural staircase. By splitting a log in half and placing boards between them, I created steps that are both practical and naturally designed. Upstairs, I've created a more spacious living area, making me feel more comfortable in this environment. With winter approaching, I've set up my fireplace to create a warm atmosphere. Now, I'm considering building a wide seat behind the fireplace. I'm planning to spend the winter in comfort and tranquility in my self-designed home within nature. If you're curious about off-grid living like I am, you can watch my video to see the details. Don't forget to subscribe to my channel for more content on topics like wooden cabins, off-grid living, and similar subjects! Living in harmony with nature is truly fantastic! This is the month of November but we have already had a lot of snowfall and a lot of snow. I was given a new power station and am excited to use it in my log cabin. I did household chores, shoveled snow and prepared a delicious meal of rice and chicken. My dog is named Smokey and he loves to spend time in the forest. My dog has thick fur and he doesn’t feel cold outside in winter. Enjoy watching. #logcabin #offgrid #camping #offgridliving

#logcabin #woodworking #offgrid #nikrijavec It's hard to believe that the second year of my log cabin building had already came to an end. Another year of hard and what at times feels like endless work. It's when I look back at the end of the year and realize the progress I've made so far. The structure now is closed in from the outside elements, which is a big achievement for me and it's a relief to have the logs protected from the rain. Doing everything DIY for sure is taking a lot more time and work, but the satisfaction of seeing something grow built by your hands it's an indescribable feeling and I take great pride in doing it my way. Hope you enjoy the video and thank you very much for watching and thanks to everyone that has been following my progress and supporting my channel. We are selling our own handmade cutting boards!! Buy one here: 🤍 My girlfriend and I hand-craft these cutting boards ourselves in the log cabin. We can only make a few at a time, so you have to be first to buy one when a batch is released. Our first batch is signed by hand with its own unique number, representing how every cutting board is unique. My goal is to expand into other handmade products, making a series of lifetime quality handmade goods. Breaking free from mass production, supporting our environment. Hello everyone! I am happy to present you my short documentary without words. At the beginning of last spring, I started building a small hut in the forest with no experience. I have made many mistakes. And yet the hut turned out to be warm and cozy, I was able to survive the most severe winter frosts and snowstorms. Due to the remoteness from civilization, it is difficult for me to deliver quality materials for construction, so I use natural resources. During the year of living in the forest, I gained invaluable experience. I'm glad that I have the opportunity to share with you. Enjoy watching! A log cabin, is a log cabin, is a log cabin. Although charming, log cabins have a number of drawbacks that should be taken into consideration before building one. However, there is a way to get that log cabin feel without going all-in. Log and timber styles can be mixed however! Learn about how to mix both: 🤍 Drawbacks: shrinkage, rustic inflexibility, constraints in home design, overal cost & labor, maintenance and chinking. Logs themselves can be used in building styles using a hybrid approach that get around the drawbacks while still giving that rustic feel. This is accomplished through more of a hybrid timber framing approach. Listen as Bert gives ideas and insight on building a hybrid timber frame home using logs to give that rustic appeal.

Hello friends. I just spent a few days clearing the build site of my property where I will be building a log cabin. Finally, a new video is here! You can also watch the new episode that is out: 🤍 🔔 Subscribe for more: 🤍 📸 - IG: 🤍 💬 - Facebook: 🤍 = More about me: When I was 20 years old I decided to build my dream log cabin, all by myself, in the middle of an off grid bush. I chose the traditional method - using only hand tools. My father taught me how to work with wood from a young age, but I have no experience with building a log cabin, so I'm learning everything as I go, and I'm looking forward to what this experience will teach me. It was a big struggle to get this opportunity to be able to work on my dream, but I finally did it and for that I am incredibly grateful. I also started this YouTube channel where I share my entire journey, so if you are interested, you can check it out. There is no one behind the camera, so I do the filming and editing myself.
