On orders from Heinrich Himmler, the Nazis abducted children from Poland for forced Germanization. Hermann Lüdeking, Jozef Sowa and Alodia Witaszek have never met, but they shared the same fate. Tears still come to Jozef Sowa’s eyes when he talks about his life. His parents were murdered by Wehrmacht soldiers in Poland in 1943, and he and his four siblings were taken to Germany. Four of them managed to return to Poland. But his younger sister Janina was given up for adoption - as a supposedly German child. She still lives in Germany today. This kidnapping was planned. In 1941, Himmler, who headed the Nazi SS, gave the order to "gather young children who are especially racially suitable from Polish families and for us to raise them in special modestly-sized kindergartens and children’s homes." Professor Isabel Heinemann explains, "By so doing, he aimed to build up the German race." For years, the historian has been researching the fates of the estimated 50 thousand children in Europe who were snatched. The largest group comes from Poland. Without their biological parents to protect them, the children were given to German families by the "SS Race and Resettlement Main Office." Their names and dates of birth were changed to obscure their true identity. After the war ended, those whose origins could be traced returned to their homelands. But their native countries had often become foreign to them and being singled out as a German "Hitler child" made reintegration difficult. In the summer of 1944, the Second World War entered its end-game when the Allies launched two major operations that would drive back German forces on both the Western and Eastern Fronts at once. Their names were Overlord and Bagration. Overlord famously commenced with the D-Day landings in Normandy and ended in the Liberation of Paris, while Bagration - a far less well-known but far larger Russian operation - crushed the invading German forces in the east, leading to their complete withdrawal from Soviet territory. Had either operation been unsuccessful, history could have been very different. In the ultimate test of military strategy, Order of War will challenge you not only to lead America's finest to victory in the west, but also place you in command of the German forces charged with repelling the Red Army's seemingly unstoppable offensive in the east. MAIN FEATURES BUILD THE BATTLESHIPS THE WAY YOU WANT Become the architect of powerful warships, from small torpedo boats to mighty Battleships! Recreate famous ships such as the HMS Dreadnought and countless speculative designs. Pick turret layout, armour scheme, funnel placement, tower variations making each ship design look and feel unique. Every design detail of your warships will directly affect their performance. Their hull characteristics, internal upgrade selection, and weight distribution not only modifies their speed and maneuverability but also their weapon effectiveness. STRONG AI The AI evaluates the optimal engage distance, using principles of the “Immunity Zone” and comparing its own firepower vs your ships. These AI estimations make it to use ammunition wisely, either by holding fire or switching shell types according to the armor protection of the target. Unless there is a special mission directive, the AI will not be a suicidal drone and will attempt to withdraw, if its fleet becomes heavily damaged or it is much weaker than yours. We continuously develop the AI in order to have a human-like and unexpected behavior, planning to feature special AI personalities according to nation. NAVAL ACADEMY Test your ship design and tactical skills in the Academy. The “Naval Academy” includes more than 50+ battle scenarios, where you will have to design a ship or a squadron to fulfill a certain combat tactical task. Orders will range from destroying the stationary ship, with broken engines to fighting outnumbered against the overwhelming enemy. These numerous missions will allow you to practice and enjoy the many innovative design and combat aspects of the game, while we are developing the campaign.
